Our physical location in the old Colorado & Southern Passenger Depot is now closed. You can still visit the historical building at 516 East Elm in Trinidad, CO.

Trinidad Railroad Museum
The mission of the Trinidad Railroad Museum is to preserve, interpret, and celebrate the rich railroad history of Trinidad, Colorado, and the surrounding region. Through engaging exhibits, educational programs, and authentic artifacts, we aim to inspire an appreciation for the transformative role of railroads in shaping our communities and connecting our past to the present.
TRRM Announces New Museum Without Walls Format
We have encountered challenges at the Elm Street Depot that have made it difficult to continue operating in that location. We are transitioning to a Museum Without Walls format that will let us deliver our mission more directly to the people we want to reach.
We appreciate everyone who visited our small museum in our first year. We had about 250 visitors from all over the country. We were able to share the railroad history of the Trinidad area and get people excited for our future plans. This transition will allow us to focus more time and energy into new programs and events.
Some of our plans include:
- Completing our exhibits for the Colorado & Southern Locomotive #638 and the 150 Years of Trinidad Railroad History timeline, which will live online and in partnered physical locations
- A redesigned website that will include online exhibits, collections, walking and driving tour guides, educational curriculum, and more
- Attending festivals, markets, train shows and other events where we can advance our mission in the community we serve
- Developing a Purgatoire Valley Genealogy Database of railroad and mining workers using Trinidad City Directories from 1871-1952
- Placing historical markers to provide more public interpretation of Trinidad’s railroad heritage
- Hosting public events like book signings, films, and special presentations
Please follow us on social media and sign up for our mailing list to stay informed!
- You can still shop our online store! We have lots of train books, toys, reproductions of historical postcards, and more! All of your purchases directly help our efforts.
